TFAS Academic Internship Program
The Fund for American Studies Academic Internship Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to live and intern in Washington D.C. during the summer. TFAS also provides opportunities for students to participate in a mentorship program, attend several site briefings at key Washington institutions, guest lectures featuring working journalists, editors and communication professionals, as well as networking events.
I was on the Journalism & Communications track, and I interned with Catholic News Service, a former news organization (as of December 2022) under the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. I worked as a multimedia intern, creating weekly content, including photos, videos and print stories. Additionally, I also wrote blog articles for my TFAS mentor, Laura Douglas, who owns Red Eye Post, a video and multimedia production organization.

My mentor through TFAS, Laura Douglas, offered me the opportunity to be a production assistant on a video shoot in July 2019 for one of her clients, Friends of Cancer Research. The interview subject was former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.
